The Foire aux Amoureux (Lovers’ Fair) is a Virton tradition held on 26 December. It consists of two parts, but there is no link between them. The day starts at 11h00 in a special marquee for a folkloric-food event: the Gaume Pie King competition. The title “roi du Pâté Gaumais" is awarded to the competitor who eats the most meat pies in 20 minutes and is declared King!
As regards the Foire aux Amoureux itself, this takes place in the afternoon from 14h00 onwards. The fair dates back to medieval times, and its purpose is to help single people find their future partners. The Virton festival committee organises games for young couples.
